根據英國《衛報》報導，儘管內馬爾率領巴西2:0擊敗墨西哥，他在比賽中浮誇的假摔演技，連自家媒體都看不下去。巴西媒體《環球新聞》就表示，「內馬爾征服了巴西但讓世界感到厭煩」，傳奇球星馬拉度納也表示，內馬爾無疑是球星，但「缺少了點甚麼」，暗示他的假摔實在太浮誇。

而身為苦主的墨西哥後衛拉運賽後接受訪問時更不屑地表示，他當時只是要去拿球，纔不小心碰到內馬爾。「看來他比較喜歡躺在地上。他如果想躺下，那就回家睡覺。」
