Organic agriculture

在有機農業全球資訊網中介紹:「有機農業是一種較不污染環境、不破壞生態,並能提供消費者健康與安全農產品的生產方式。」而根據農委會的定義:「有機農業是遵守自然資源循環永續利用原則,不允許使用合成化學物質,強調水土資源保育與生態平衡之管理系統,並達到生產自然安全農產品目標之農業。」
在一般消費大眾的刻版印象中,有機農產品的價格就是居高不下,即便認同有機農產品確實能夠提供較為安全又健康的食物,然而在現實的考量下卻未必選購。然而食安問題一爆再爆,除了商人良心問題,政府、社會、經濟、教育等等多種層面環環相扣,如何能夠讓消費者能夠食的安心,或許有機農產品不是唯一或最好的方法,然而它是一個可供考慮的選項。

 

“Organic agriculture,” as introduced on Taiwan Organic Information Portal website, “is a production management system that contaminates the environment less, maintains ecological harmony, and offers consumers healthy and safe agricultural products.” Similarly, according to the definition by the Council of Agriculture of Executive Yuan, “Organic agriculture abides by the sustainable use principle of natural resources. It is a management system that allows no use of synthetic chemical substance, emphasizing not only soil and water conservation but also ecological balance. In addition, it aims at producing natural and safe food.”
In the stereotype of general consumers, the price of organic food has kept buoyed up. Even if they agree that organic farm produce does offer safer and healthier food, they would not therefore purchase products of such if considering real life practices. Nevertheless, problems related to food safety have troubled society all the time. How can consumers feel at ease when taking in every bite? Perhaps organic agriculture may not be the only and the best solution, but it is an acceptable option ready for application.
