SCI返修来不及润色，给编辑发邮件延期，没有回复，需要按时返稿么？

情况是这样的，前阵子投了个文章，给了大修，主要是加实验，其中一个审稿人提了一句要润色，现在实验加完了，文章我自己也改好了，但实在来不及润色(12月28号就要返稿)。。22号给编辑部发邮件想延期两周。。可能因为圣诞假期的原因都没回复。。现在马上要返稿了，请问各位前辈，这种情况还要按时返稿么？返稿的话要怎么在Response中解释没润色呢？
以下是我以防万一自己扯的理由：
「Response: We are truly sorry to tell you that we did not submit the polished manuscript during this revision process. We employed an English-language editing service to polish our wording. Due to the Christmas holiday in December 2020, the polished version of our manuscript is delayed and can not be returned on time. Therefore, we will be grateful if you could give us more time, to polish our manuscript more appropriately. We will attach our certification of polishment in our next revision.

Once again, we are genuinely sorry about this situation. We are looking forward to a second chance.」
不知道这样合适么。。

没事的，再追一封强调一下，对方可能也在休假

每天编辑对接的邮件很多，不一定每封邮件都能及时查阅

最好还是按时返稿吧

不知道你文章语言到底写成什么样。需要大改还是小改。

另外不同期刊对语言的要求差异挺大，有的要求并不高，但基本的语法和拼写错误要避免。

可以自己认真修改一下。或者找人。润色不一定非得找机构润色，很多机构润色挺烂的。

可以在追加一封，然后耐心等待回复即可。

再回复一封邮件说明一下比较好，边润色边等期刊回复吧

在发一个，一个编辑对接的太多了，存在忘了情况
