01.play hooky

hooky在這個口語中作名詞，意思是「逃學者」；play表示「扮演……的角色」

所以play hooky就是指：逃學、曠工；擅自不參加活動或會議。

Why arent you in school? Are you playing hooky?

你怎麼不在學校？你是在逃學嗎？

Its a beautiful day today. I feel like playing hooky from work.

今天天氣真好，我不想去上班了。

02.childs play

play在這裡作名詞，是「遊戲、玩耍」的意思；

childs play就是小孩子玩的把戲，很簡單很單純，引申為「容易做的事情」。

相當於 a piece of cake.（小菜一碟）

The final exam is childs play to those who took good notes.

對於做好筆記的人來說，期末考試太好過了

Finding the right street was childs play with a map.

有地圖在手，要找對路簡直小菜一碟

還可以表示「微不足道、毫無意義的事情」。

找出密碼也沒什麼意義。

03.play for time

玩時間 ×

故意拖延時間 √

06.play ball （with）

如果我跟你說I want to play ball with you，

你是不是以為我想和你一起玩球？

其實真正的意思是：我想跟你合作。

play ball with=cooperate with sb

或者是按照某人的要求去做，有「配合」的意思在裡面。

We need his help, but will he play ball？

我們需要他的幫助，但是他會配合嗎？

當然，如果你真的想和別人玩球的話，

可以說play ball games，這樣就會減少歧義啦~
