何謂藝術治療?

經常有人問我這個問題,答案從來沒有固定。

通常,我會解釋說藝術治療就是一種透過藝術創作的過程來表達自我,進而達到自我療癒的治療方式。然而,大多數的人總是給我以下的回應:「我完全沒有藝術天份耶!」或是「我不會畫畫耶!」等等的回答。但是其實藝術創作的過程本身就是具有療癒效果且充滿趣味的。完全不須言語,只要「製造混亂」來表達自我,不需要成為一位藝術家就能夠表達自我。

藝術創作的過程能夠紓解壓力、表達感受,甚至還能夠藏著不能說的祕密。藝術治療提供了一種無須言語的說話與溝通方式。
  
What is ART THERAPY?

    I usually come across this question from the others and even myself, and the answer changes all the time. Normally I explained to people that art therapy is a kind of therapeutic way for people to express themselves by making art. However, I often got a response like: “I don’t know anything about art.” Or “I am not good at art.” For me, the art making process itself is therapeutic and enjoyable. Without saying any words, I can express myself by making some “mess”. And I always believe that I don’t have to be an artist to express my feelings. Art making process is a way to express feelings, release stress and also contain the emotion (secrets). Art therapy provides people a non-threatening way to “talk” or to “communicate”.
