一、音標

單元音 [ʌ]

1. 發音訣竅

本音標的發音很像漢語拼音“e”或漢字“餓” 的漢語發音，只不過發[ʌ]的音時，聲音要強且短促。發此音時，上下脣及上下齒微張，臉部肌肉放鬆，舌頭自然垂放，舌尖輕輕抵住下齒齦，振動聲帶即成。

注意：[ʌ]的發音與稍後介紹的[ə]的發音可說是相同的，只不過[ʌ]只出現在單音節的字[如 cut [kʌt]]或有兩個音節以上有重音節的字中[如 study[ˈstʌdɪ]]，發聲較強。而[ə]多隻出現在有兩個音節以上非重音節部分的字中[如 ago[əˈgo]]，發聲較輕。
