60年前,NASA為了獲得更清晰的月球照片,讓噴氣推進實驗室開發了一種名為數字影像處理的技術,這項技術後來成為了核磁共振(MRI)以及CT誕生的技術基礎。在訴後的數十年中,這兩項技術挽救了無數人的生命。

50年前,前蘇聯實驗的給狗換頭,以在未來可以給蘇聯英雄們換身體以延長壽命。這項任務被安排給了蘇聯航天部門的生物醫學研究實驗室。當然最後失敗了,但可以給狗維持生命的儀器成了現在的生命維持儀,現在的大手術離了這部設備都無法進行。

12年前,美國國土安全部提出,希望能研製一種微型感測器系統,用來探測光線、氣體、化合物、溫度和運動等信息,用於反恐。NASA阿姆斯中心科學家Jing Li (李靜),長期從事外星大氣分析工作,擁有探測多種氣體和化合物的感測器技術。為滿足國土安全部的需求,李靜考慮了這樣的技術方案:用一個設備來吸入空氣,用智能電話來作為顯示設備。為此,李靜吸納了通用系統公司的總裁喬治-於(中國移民,畢業於喬治亞理工學院),由他開發手機界面。李靜特別指出,感測器不要和手機集成在一起,而應當是獨立的,通過藍牙與手機通信。這樣無論感測器還是手機的升級換代都不會影響到彼此。感測器研製中,採用了各類商用器件,包括紅外計數器、分光計、運動敏感器和條形碼讀碼器。作為這項技術的商業化承擔者,喬治-於則開發了一個稱為NODE平臺的設備,它只有拇指粗細,可以容納各種感測器和通信介面。2012年,NODE平臺開始銷售,2014年推出了第二代 NODE+,無論安卓還是蘋果手機都可以兼容。設備的基本配製可以檢測二氧化碳、一氧化碳、氧化氮等氣體,還可以探測光照、室溫、濕度和氣壓等數據。NODE+的價格並不貴,感測器基座售價149美元,各類感測頭的售價在數十美元至249美元不等。NODE+的應用已經超出了國土安全部所希望的反恐範圍,進入了很多民生領域,例如油漆公司可以用選配色度敏感器來檢測產品質量,食品廠可以用它來檢測加工溫度。汽車修理工可以用它來檢查發動機。

嬰幼兒使用的「尿不濕」最初就是NASA航天技術轉民用的結果,解決航天員太空中無法如廁問題的同時也解決了億萬媽媽們的問題;

速食麵裏的脫水蔬菜包,源自航天員食品中的真空脫水技術;運動跑鞋的「中空吹塑成型」的製造技術,源自於艙外航天服的靈感;

長期停留太空中的航天員抗骨丟失、抗肌肉萎縮的技術成果,已部分應用於長期臥牀病人的「雙抗」治療;

「記憶海綿」也稱為「太空海綿」,最早由NASA開發,為宇航員進行太空旅行而設計的支撐和保護墊。這種革命性材料具有吸震、減壓、低迴彈的特點,能夠根據您身體的曲線和溫度自動調整形狀,從而化解身體各壓迫點的壓力。隨著技術的革新,記憶海綿漸使用於醫療牀墊。如今記憶海綿已在全世界範圍內普遍使用。翻開了家庭牀上用品的新篇章;

許多人開車出行時依靠衛星導航指路,各國發射上天的大量導航衛星成為了「路盲」的福音。導航衛星從航天走向了民用。甚至我們觸手可及的IC卡、網上銀行、手持式遙控器都源自最初的航天技術......

而這些只是航天技術轉民用的冰山一角。

航天工程獲取技術的方式說的直白些就是人類給自己定一個難以企及的任務,然後用盡一切手段來完成,即使最終失敗,但在過程中獲得的各項科技進展也足以顯著促進人類發展。

我想這大概是航天人內心對這個問題的最好回答吧。

我國的航天事業在開國之初錢老等一批真正的民族脊樑的領導下最終步入正軌,蒸蒸日上並成績出眾。所以此刻的中國航天更不能也不能放鬆投入,反而要繼續加大研發的資金人才投入,才能像當年美國重金砸下的阿波羅計劃一樣,為中國航天帶來持續幾十年的紅利。我國民間甚至高層仍時有對航天投入是否過多的質疑,直到最近Space X的一箭昇天才又匆忙讓原本沒有動靜的某些項目又急忙上馬恢復,航天事業——真的需要長遠眼光。

時至今日更加佩服這些國家脊樑的遠見和學識,致敬

在探索未知的過程中失敗是在所難免的,但這並不意味著探索這一行為是錯誤的,也不能以此來污衊與否認探索者們的勇敢與決心。


我們選擇登月 (We Choose to Go to the Moon,又譯《我們決定登月》) 是美國前總統約翰·費茨傑拉德·肯尼迪(John Fitzgerald Kennedy)於1962年9月12日在賴斯大學的一篇關於航天事業的演講。之後,這篇演講被視為阿波羅登月計劃地基的第一鏟土。肯尼迪本人於1963年遇刺身亡,登月計劃由約翰遜總統與尼克松總統接管。經過不懈努力,終於在1969年7月成功將人類送上了月球。(以下節選部分高潮,讓我們感受下那個獨特歲月的美國人對於深空探索的意志與決心
