I received a message and couple of photos via LINE from my mom on a week night regarding of a lady, who is a friend of her friend, wanted to get rid of a dining set for FREE.

With limited information provided from the lady, I could only guess what I might be receiving according to the photos which were also taken from odd angles.

I had to assume a dining table and at least 4 dining chairs were included to be given away so it won't be a waste of time for us to make a run to pick them up since she lives in a different city.

Well, at least, one thing was certain that they seemed to be in pretty good conditions.

Once arrived at the lady's place the next night, the dining table was clearly there but surprisingly only 3 dining chairs to be seen in sight, so I had to ask her what happened to the 4th chair?

Guess What?

The lady said someone in her family wanted to keep 1 of the dining chair for other use around the house; therefore, I left her place with an incomplete dining set with only 3 dining chairs!

Who would want just 3 dining chairs for their dining set?

NO ONE!

I had to force myself to come up with a plan B!

So, here it is....

Getting tired of staring at dull and unified dining chairs and is interested in being outside of a box for once?

The style of mix and match dining chairs is in the trend!

There are 3 dining chairs painted with 3 distinguishable colors and reupholstered with 3 unique designed fabric to choose from:

1) Antique White

This dining chair was painted with 3 coats of Van Gogh Fossil Paint Chalk (old white) color, and it was then heavily distressed to reveal original warm wood tone underneath.

To protect the piece, a layer of Van Gogh Fossil Paint Clear Beeswax was applied, but to emphasize on the weathered look, French Caffeine (dark) wax was added.

To finalize the farmhouse style, chair cushion was newly reupholstered with Ballard Design Document Brown (chocolate) French Script fabric.

2) Subtle Grey

This dining chair was painted with 2 coats of Chivalry (light grey) color, and it was then slightly distressed to let the solid wood undertone peak through.

To protect the piece, clear wax was applied and to showcase vintage feel, a thin layer of dark wax was lightly dabbed on.

Chair cushion was newly reupholstered with Waverly Hanover Plaid Graphite fabric to create farmhouse look.

3) Moody Blue

To build your own mix and match dining set?

It is never too late to start collecting unique and one-of-the-kind dining chairs to catch up this trend!

P.S. My own dining table painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Paris Grey color turned out to be too small in proportion for these shabby chic dining chairs in the staged photo shoots. (LOL)
