美國南加州5日晚間發生規模7.1大地震。令人感到震撼的是，根據美國衛星公司「行星實驗室」（Planet Labs）釋出的最新衛星影像，這場地震讓當地出現明顯裂痕，烙印出「疤痕」，就連外太空也看得到。

CNN報導，就在週五規模7.1強震襲擊前，當地居民前一天才歷經規模6.4地震來襲的恐慌。只不過，這除了引發多起火災、多處房屋歪斜受損之外，接近震央的地方出現明顯裂痕，附近一條高速公路也因地震來襲毀損關閉，部分路段出現位移。

根據當地4日、6日所拍攝的衛星影像顯示，這道裂痕從先前一處有水的地方向外延伸。

此外，美國地質調查局（USGS）8日分享一段地震追蹤影片，顯現4日規模6.4地震來襲之前至8日中午期間的所有地震活動。根據統計，在週四6.4大地震來襲後的100個小時內，共有5400次地震發生，大約每過1分7秒就有一次。
