There』re 1~2 openings for PhD students (Fall 2019) in Materials Engineering at Auburn University (eng.auburn.edu/matl). The students will work with Dr. Siyuan Dai (https://sidai.physics.ucsd.edu), prospective students are expected to work in nano-optics, intelligent nanophotonics, emerging materials and additive manufacturing (3D printing etc). The PhD program in Materials Engineering at Auburn is interdisciplinary for students with background related to physics, chemistry, materials and applied science & engineering. About Dr. Siyuan Dai:

Dr. Siyuan Dai is an Assistant Professor in Materials Engineering program in Mechanical Engineering department at Auburn University. He was a postdoctoral fellow in department of electric & computer engineering at the University of Texas-Austin. He got his PhD in condensed matter physics from University of California, San Diego in 2017, and the BS in Applied Physics from University of Science & Technology of China in 2011. Dr. Siyuan Dai has published 25 peer-reviewed papers, his 7 first-author publications: 1 in Science, 1 in Nature Nano, 1 in Nature Comm, 1 in Advanced Materials and 3 in Nano Letters. He has been invited to present and serve as session chairs for MRS and APS. He is the recipient of 2017 Fritz London Postdoc Fellowship, 2017 UCSD Physics Chair』s Challenge award and 2015 Chinese Government award for outstanding self-financed student aboard.
