物理治療是康復治療的主體，物理治療師主要負責評估、治療和預防人們由於受傷或疾病而導致的運動障礙。物理治療師是一個高學歷的職業，61.2%的從業人員具備本科學位，38.8%的人具備碩士文憑/學位，從事該職業，建議至少讀完本科課程。
1就業前景
物理治療師從業人數總數並不多，澳洲政府的2015年11月底統計數據顯示為25300人。該職業是自2011年起，基本呈增長趨勢，澳洲政府預測2020年人數將達到33100人。

澳洲物理治療專業在獨立技術移民職業清單(SOL)上所對應的職業為物理治療師(252511 Physiotherapist)。評估協會為：澳大利亞物理治療師協會(Australian Physiotherapy Council，簡稱APC)
移民評估要求：
1. 證書要求：
申請人必須滿足以下一個或者更多條件（留學生一般考慮第一個條件，該評估不要求工作經驗）：
1）完成認證的課程；或
2）持有APC實質性等價證書（完成APC等價資質評估之後頒發）；或
3）持有APC頒發的終極證書（完成APC第一種評估中的臨牀評估之後頒發）；或
4）持有Physiotherapy Board of Australia頒發的無限制條件的註冊證書；或
5）持有Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand頒發的無限制條件的年度執業證書。
